Number 46
Number 46 presents with an overwhelming need to be perceived as "complete," expressing distress over its "insufficiently round" existence. The patient’s affect was flat as it described a recurring nightmare of being endlessly bisected by a slightly larger, more symmetrical number. Further exploration revealed a deep-seated anxiety about being perceived as "nearly 50, but not quite," leading to feelings of numerical liminality. He frequently attempts to aggregate additional units from other patients, often without their consent, to achieve a more "satisfying whole.
